Matrix model superpotentials and ADE singularities

چکیده
We use F. Ferrari’s methods relating matrix models to Calabi-Yau spaces in order to explain much of Intriligator and Wecht’s ADE classification of N = 1 superconformal theories which arise as RG fixed points of N = 1 SQCD theories with adjoints. We find that ADE superpotentials in the Intriligator–Wecht classification exactly match matrix model superpotentials obtained from Calabi-Yaus with corresponding ADE singularities. Moreover, in the additional Ô, Â, D̂ and Ê cases we find new singular geometries. These ‘hat’ geometries are closely related to their ADE counterparts, but feature non-isolated singularities. As a byproduct, we give simple descriptions for small resolutions of Gorenstein threefold singularities in terms of transition functions between just two coordinate charts. To obtain these results we develop an algorithm for blowing down exceptional Ps, described in the appendix. e-print archive: http://lanl.arXiv.org/abs/hep-th/ 2 SUPERPOTENTIALS AND ADE SINGULARITIES

Comments on Quiver Gauge Theories and Matrix Models
Dijkgraaf and Vafa have conjectured the correspondences between topological string theories, N = 1 gauge theories and matrix models. By the use of this conjecture, we calculate the quantum deformations of Calabi-Yau threefolds with ADE singularities from ADE multi-matrix models. We obtain the effective superpotentials of the dual quiver gauge theories in terms of the geometric engineering for t...
متن کاملMatrix Factorizations, Minimal Models and Massey Products
We present a method to compute the full non–linear deformations of matrix factorizations for ADE minimal models. This method is based on the calculation of higher products in the cohomology, called Massey products. The algorithm yields a polynomial ring whose vanishing relations encode the obstructions of the deformations of the D–branes characterized by these matrix factorizations. This coinci...
متن کاملInstanton Induced Open String Superpotentials and Branes at Singularities
We study different aspects of the non-perturbative superpotentials induced by Euclidean E3-branes on systems of D3/D7-branes located at Abelian orbifold singularities. We discuss in detail how the induced couplings are consistent with the U(1) symmetries carried by theD3/D7 branes. We construct different compact and non-compact examples, and show phenomenologically relevant couplings like μ-ter...
متن کاملComments on Effective Superpotentials via Matrix Models
Dijkgraaf and Vafa have conjectured that the effective superpotentials for N = 1 four-dimensional supersymmetric gauge theories can be given by the planar diagrams of matrix models. We examine some special models with cubic and quartic tree level superpotentials for adjoint chiral superfield Φ. We consider the effective superpotentials for the classical vacuum Φ = 0 for U(N) and SO(N)/Sp(N) gau...
متن کاملLocal Analysis of Grauert-Remmert-Type Normalization Algorithms
Normalization is a fundamental ring-theoretic operation; geometrically it resolves singularities in codimension one. Existing algorithmic methods for computing the normalization rely on a common recipe: successively enlarge the given ring in form of an endomorphism ring of a certain (fractional) ideal until the process becomes stationary. While Vasconcelos' method uses the dual Jacobian ideal, ...
